Trainer – Karen McKelvy Stone
A professional hunter/jumper rider and trainer since 1996, Karen’s career began on the East coast with a successful junior career culminating in such awards as the 1983 win in the USET East Coast Medal Finals, Best Child Rider Award at Devon, Pennsylvania National and the Washington International horse shows. Karen’s professional jumper career has included such ribbons as the 1st place in the $50,000 Rocky Mountain Grand Prix in Parker, and numerous top placings in the Open jumper divisions in Colorado, Arizona, California and Calgary, Canada.
Karen’s own training style is based upon positive reinforcement methods to pass along the skills she has learned over the years. Karen would say she specializes in the building of confidence in both rider and horse therefore promoting the horse/rider relationship.
Karen teaches both juniors and amateurs on both hunters and jumpers. Showing predominately on the Colorado “A” circuit, Karen will also bring along riders and horses at CHJA horse shows and schooling shows. Training from beginner to Grand Prix level of riders, Karen feels she is best at training teenage through amateur riders.\
